Welcome to Night Vale

On this post, I recommend Welcome to Night Vale. The podcast is a biweekly community radio show hosted by Cecil Palmer. Night Vale is a small town literally lost in time (and space) where weird tragedies abound with little notice given by residents. In a town where only hooded figures are allowed in the dog park and wheat and wheat byproducts are banned because they turn into snakes and/or spirits, having monsterous librarians who devour visitors hardly warrants residents' notice. WTNV is an easy listen with episodes only lasting 30 minutes with the "weather" taking place halfway through.

My Venture into the Adventure Zone

I imagine most don't hear about podcasts and think "that sounds hilarious." Until fairly recently, I assumed all podcasts were either NPR or this one podcast that somehow ended up on my first iPod about how we were all going to die if we didn't get enough iodine. I was more than presently surprised when a friend of mine finally convinced me to give a podcast a listen. Now, I'm addicted. Although "The Adventure Zone" wasn't my first love, it is the only podcast I find myself going to for a relisten. TAZ, as it's affectionately known, was one of the first podcasts of its kind and very few podcasts of the dungeneering genre have measured up since. What started off as three brothers and their dad goofing off playing Dungeons and Dragons turned into a multi-arc (no multi-campaign) saga, bringing their listeners unsurprisingly to laughter but surprisingly to tears. Rabbits

This week, we're veering far from the comedic and into the mind-bending. Rabbits is a fascinating podcast from the creators of The Black Tapes that will pull you down the rabbit hole along with its main protagonist, Carly. Rabbits plays on questionable realism in the tradition of The Blair Witch Project in the form of a podcast hosted by Carly, as she seeks to find her missing friend, Yumiko, who seems to have been wrapped up in a game shrouded in mystery and possibly death. Carly posts a mixture of her own narration and recordings of her interactions that will leave you questioning the nature of reality. While missing the lighthearted nature of podcasts from previous weeks, the podcast is absolutely captivating and entertaining and will leave you anxiously awaiting the next season.
